So much happier this week

HELLO FAMILY!

Angie's baptism yesterday was amazing. We had so much ward support!! There wasn’t even room for everyone to fit in the baptismal room to watch the ordenanza. I have to say that was a blessing because last minute Angie's dad refused to come to the baptism. That was really hard on Angie but Hermano Escobar told Angie to stand up and look at everyone in the room that came to support her when he welcomed her to the ward family. I think that was a really tender moment for Angie. But all yesterday Angie was beaming. So excited! I don’t know if I’ve told you this before but every Sunday we go to help with primary and wow, Angie was all smiles and all the primary children were so excited for her too. It was the cutest thing ever! Angie is an angel.

Elder Mondragon baptized her and for some reason that was really neat to. He had only been a member for 1 year before he left on his mission and his parents were not happy at all with him. To me that shows how real the gospel is and how loving our Heavenly Father is. I know this is not going to be an easy road for Angie, but like Hermano Escobar said, she’s not alone! Angie's aunt gave an awesome prayer at the end that basically said how great of an example Angie is to her family and that her parents will eventually come around to accept the gospel because of her. Amen to that.

Oh another thing about Angie, when we were talking to her earlier this week, she was asking if she would finally be able to have a Haz Lo Justo ring after her baptism. Right after the service we gave her one and she was so excited and slipped it on her finger right away. She has so much excitement and love to do what is right. It’s amazing how just a little 8 year old can be such a stellar example to all of us!

I guess a quick update on Maria and Florencio is necessary. We went over on Friday and they sat us down for dinner. Florencio is sure talented. He made us this fish wrapped in something and it was stuffed with salsa. So great. We just had a good time and talked. We didn’t really talk much about religion because it was just too hard for all of us but we had a great time laughing with each other. They are seriously my family. We took a few pictures so you could finally see them! Maria invited to their huge 4th of July party so we could meet all of her family. This week we are going to start teaching her son in law at her house who just got out of jail. We think that this opportunity will spark some more flame for them. I am also writing them a note so I can clearly express all my feelings and bare testimony of the truth of this gospel. I am going to talk about how growing up I didn’t have a lot of friend in the church and it was hard. There were a lot of days I didn’t want to go to actividades and such but I always tried to go because I knew that it was true and that that is where I needed to be. There is also a quote from this past general conference I want to share with them- from Elder Holland of course: "So be kind regarding human frailty—your own as well as that of those who serve with you in a Church led by volunteer, mortal men and women. Except in the case of His only perfect Begotten Son, imperfect people are all God has ever had to work with. That must be terribly frustrating to Him, but He deals with it. So should we. And when you see imperfection, remember that the limitation is not in the divinity of the work. As one gifted writer has suggested, when the infinite fullness is poured forth, it is not the oil’s fault if there is some loss because finite vessels can’t quite contain it all. Those finite vessels include you and me, so be patient and kind and forgiving." I keep praying for them so much. I know they are ready. I think its just the ward isn’t ready for them. Which brings me to the next topic!

Yesterday Hermana Burnham and I taught the junior and senior's Sunday school class. These kids are so awesome. A lot of them do not know the basics of the gospel so we just decided to have them write questions down and give them back to us and we would answer them. It was pretty awesome. We talked a little about priesthood (which is what we were suppose to teach about) and even though we didn’t talk too much about it, one of the boys who gave the closing prayer kept saying how thankful he was for having us in their with them to help remind them of the importance of the priesthood. We did however talk a lot about missionary work because, I mean, how could we not? At the end they were asking if they could come out and help us! It was awesome. They are really excited so next week the youth will be joining forces with all of us missionaries. Super pumped.

I think our talks went really well. I spoke first. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. That was really weird for me because it is usually so loud. It was nice though because the spirit was so strong in the building. The best part was the President Pingree was in our ward yesterday and so he got up to share a few words after Hermana Burnham and me. What an honor to speak with that man. All the missionaries were sitting behind him on the stand when he spoke because we were getting ready to sing. That was cool because I literally felt like God's army.
